It receives your music over Bluetooth and drives your earphones from a proper balanced output — while your phone stays in your pocket or bag. It has a small colour touchscreen, so you can actually see your codec, volume, and track instead of guessing.
The sound is clean and even, not coloured. The honest tradeoff: Bluetooth is never quite as pristine as a wired connection, and the battery is modest — but for the freedom of going wireless, most people won't look back. And when you do want the best quality, you can plug it in over USB and it becomes a wired DAC.
