Our take

A cleaner, more refined player for when the earphone deserves a proper source — quiet background, honest sound, plenty of power.

What it'll drive :

Comfortably drives every earphone in the lineup with power to spare.
But raw power isn't really the point here — the cheaper R4 actually pushes out more watts. What the R6 III gives you instead is a cleaner source: a quieter background and finer detail. That matters most for the sensitive and revealing sets. Letshuoer Mystic8, which can hiss on a noisy source, sits dead silent here. And the detailed sets like the Mega5EST reward the extra clarity with more space and nuance.

If you've got a resolving earphone and want to hear all of it, this is the better match.

Streaming & compatibility

Open Android 12 with system-wide bit-perfect audio, so streaming apps run properly and at full quality — Apple Music, Tidal, Spotify, Qobuz, YouTube Music.
The same honest caveat applies: Apple Music on Android won't go fully bit-perfect, so Tidal or Qobuz are the picks if you want the absolute best.

Beyond headphones, it has the connections to be the hub of a setup: a line-out and a coaxial digital output to feed a bigger system, plus USB DAC mode for your laptop and two-way Bluetooth.

It also has genuinely good built-in tuning tools if you like to tweak — a full EQ and Hiby's slider-based sound adjustments — that work across every app, not just the music player.

Power & Battery

Two headphone outputs: 125 mW from the 3.5 mm, 405 mW from the balanced 4.4 mm — ample for any earphone here. The amp switches between Class A (the best sound) and Class AB (longer runtime), so you choose.

The 4500 mAh battery is genuinely good for a player this capable — up to around 13 hours single-ended, closer to 11 on balanced, and it takes about two hours to fully charge with 18 W fast charging.

Distortion is vanishingly low and the noise floor is very quiet, which is the whole reason to reach for this over something cheaper.
