Twistura Woodnote - vividsound

What we hear

The Twistura Woodnote uses a real wood-fibre diaphragm to sound natural before it sounds impressive: warm, punchy and smooth, with long, full notes for acoustic guitar, piano, soul and slow jazz, plus three swappable nozzles to fine-tune it. It isn't a detail monster, and busy electronic tracks won't get pulled apart layer by layer.

What others ask  about Twistura Woodnote

Is the bass on the Twistura Woodnote sub-bass focused or mid-bass punchy?

Mostly mid-bass. The Twistura Woodnote puts its weight where kick drums and bass guitar live, so rhythm comes with a warm, round thump rather than a deep rumble. There's enough low end for pop and hip hop to feel complete, but if you want bass you feel in your chest, the FatFreq x HBB Deuce is the one to look at instead.

How are the vocals on the Twistura Woodnote, forward or laid-back?

Natural on the Standard nozzle, with a warm, slightly rounded tone that suits singer-songwriters and soul. Voices sit in the music rather than on top of it. If you want singers a step closer, swap to the Vocal nozzle that comes in the box. For the most vocal-first set in this price range, try the Dunu Kima 2.

Is the treble on the Twistura Woodnote smooth, sparkly or sharp?

Smooth. The Twistura Woodnote rounds off the top end instead of adding sparkle, so cymbals and 's' sounds stay easy even when you turn it up. The Instrument nozzle adds a little more air if Standard feels too relaxed. If you love bright, crisp treble, this isn't your set, and the Binary Acoustics EP321 MEMS is worth a look.

Is the Twistura Woodnote fatiguing over long listening sessions?

No, this is one of the easier sets in the shop to leave in for hours. The Twistura Woodnote has a warm, smooth tuning, light aluminium shells, and a vent that stops pressure building up in your ear, which makes it a good pick for long work days, train rides and late evenings with the lights off.

Is the soundstage on the Twistura Woodnote intimate or wide?

Natural, leaning a little wide for a single dynamic driver. The Twistura Woodnote won't put music all around your head the way the Unique Melody sets do, but instruments have room and nothing feels crammed together. The Instrument nozzle opens things up slightly compared with the Standard one.

Does the Twistura Woodnote fit smaller ears?

Most ears will be fine. The Twistura Woodnote shells are aluminium and light for their size, and with twelve pairs of tips in the box you have a good chance of finding a seal quickly. If you usually need the smallest tips, try it first, or book a listening session in Utrecht and settle it in ten minutes.
