Letshuoer S08 - vividsound

What we hear

Smooth & Bassy

The Letshuoer S08 is a planar tuned warm and relaxed on purpose, with deep bass, natural voices and a softened top end, so it suits acoustic albums, lo-fi and older pop, and it's a gentle first step up from AirPods. There isn't much sparkle or fine detail, and dense tracks can sound a little uneven.

What others ask  about Letshuoer S08

Is the bass on the Letshuoer S08 sub-bass focused or mid-bass punchy?

It leans towards weight rather than punch. The Letshuoer S08 has a warm low end with real depth to it, the rumble under a bassline, and only a mild mid-bass bump, so it sounds full without thumping. It won't slam the way a bass-first set does. If you want more of everything down low with the same easy treble, the Letshuoer Astralis is the step up.

How do vocals sound on the Letshuoer S08?

Clear and natural, sitting in the middle of the mix rather than right in front of you. The Letshuoer S08 keeps voices warm and smooth, and the soft treble means an "s" never turns sharp. The Vocal tips in the box pull singers a little closer if you want that. If voices are the whole point for you, the Dunu Kima 2 puts them nearer still.

Is the treble on the Letshuoer S08 smooth, sparkly or sharp?

Smooth, and deliberately so. Letshuoer tuned the top end of the S08 down, which is unusual for a planar, so cymbals stay soft and sibilance is a non-issue even on harsh recordings. What you give up is air, sparkle and the last layer of fine detail. If you want planar speed with a crisper top end, the Letshuoer S12 Ultra is the brighter sibling.

Is the Letshuoer S08 fatiguing over long sessions?

No, and that's the main reason to buy it. The Letshuoer S08 pairs soft treble with warm bass that never booms, in small and light aluminium shells, so it's easy company for a full working day or a long train ride. It's one of the safest sets in the shop if your ears get tired quickly, or if bright earphones have put you off before.

Is the soundstage of the Letshuoer S08 intimate or wide?

Natural, neither cramped nor huge. The Letshuoer S08 places the music at a comfortable distance around your head, with enough separation that instruments don't pile on top of each other in normal mixes. On very dense tracks the picture can get a little uneven. If a big, spacious stage is what you're after, the Letshuoer Astralis goes much wider.

Does the Letshuoer S08 fit smaller ears?

It should. The Letshuoer S08 uses small CNC-machined aluminium shells that are light for metal, and the box includes six pairs of silicone tips in S, M and L across two styles, so most ears can find a good seal. If you're still unsure, book a listening session in Utrecht and try it on before you buy.
